![]() That way, they don't have to go back and get a development team for every game they want to release and can just go through and have a handful of developers testing the games to make sure they run on the emulated system adequately. They may have gone and done updates for the trilogy after Thieves in Time released, but thanks to the lukewarm reception they got from the game sony likely just told them to leave it be, which is the same reason they were unable to finish development on the DLC they had planned out.Īs for the port from the PS3 to the PS4 online store, and mind this is just speculation on my end, the reason I don't think that the PS Now version of the collection didn't get any updates is because, in the long run, its easier for Sony to release an 'official ps3 emulator' for that purpose, so that ALL PS3 games they release on the PS Now are able to run on the system, without having to actually go back into the games and reprogram them to work on the new and updated PS4 architecture, they instead just make an emulated version of the PS3 architecture that the game will run on. It's safe to assume that they didn't fix anything post launch of the trilogy because they were already well into development of Thieves in Time at that point, as shown by the trailer they included in the trilogy (more of a teaser) once you 100%ed the trilogy itself, and it wouldn't be worth splitting the development team to do bugfixes on the trilogy when they likely had far more bugs to fix in their new game they were already making. The PS3 trilogy is just a port of the PAL version (as shown by some slight changes in cutscenes) so most of the programming changes were done by Sanzaru to get the games to work on the PS3 (which has a vastly different architecture than the PS2, which is why it was so difficult initially for the PS3 to get outside developers because nobody wanted to learn to program for it because it was such a mess). ![]() ![]() Sony and sucker punch liked what they saw, and gave Sanzaru the rights to the franchise on the caveat that they make the remastered edition of the trilogy for the PS3 first. ![]() Sanzaru only got the rights to the games because they came forward to Sony and said 'here I am, I have a demo for you let me make the game' ![]()
